The new patient special is killing your dental practice
Hey, it's Cem from Lead Generation Pipeline.
You paid for that ad and never got the treatment. If CAC is the same as LTV, there's no point in doing business.
Price ads pull price shoppers
Search new patient special in Meta's Ad Library and filter your state. Read the headlines and count how many lead with price. That's your competition, and they all say the same thing: $79 specials, $99 specials for cleaning and x-rays. It's a race to the bottom.
The ad doesn't say who the dentist is. It never names a treatment the practice is great at. So the only reason people click is the price.
Next year, they'll click on someone else's special. They're not committed to your business.
Full schedule, flat production
Every special patient takes a hygiene slot. That slot could have gone to a patient who stays or who needs a higher value treatment.
The calendar looks busy, but the practice doesn't grow because we're not generating revenue through our flagship treatments.
Cost per lead is the wrong number
A cheap special makes cost per lead look great, and everyone's happy. But your revenue is not growing, so you should not be happy. You should be inspecting.
The number that matters is cost per treatment patient. That's ad spend divided by patients who say yes. Let's say we spend $15,000 this month and two accept treatment. That's your real cost.
Cheap leads can be expensive patients. Judge every ad on treatment yeses, never on form fills or volume.
1. Name one treatment
Pick a treatment you want more of, like implants or Invisalign. The patient who clicks already has that problem. They're choosing a dentist, not hunting a price. One ad, one treatment.
2. Show the dentist
Patients pick a person, especially for a bigger treatment. A phone video in your own office beats stock photos. Put the dentist's name in the ad copy.
3. One clear next step
Offer a consult for that treatment, not a cleaning deal. Say what happens, who they meet and what they learn.
A local, specific ad keeps working long after a special expires.
